Drug discounts and patient assistance
Types of assistance
Manufacturer Copay Cards
Copay Cards provided by the manufacturer of a brand name drug to reduce your out of pocket prescription cost. You must present the Copay Card to your pharmacist for them to apply the discount.
Medicare and other government insurance patients are ineligible for these discounts.
Online Pharmacy Partnerships
Many manufacturers advertise their partnership with online specialty pharmacies like BlinkRx and PhilRx. These online pharmacies are experienced in filling dry eye drugs. They often apply Coupon Cards automatically, can apply other discounts or programs to give you the best price, and help with prior authorizations for insurance. They can also offer free shipping and refill assistance. Conversely, you may run into complications filling dry eye prescriptions at your brick and mortar pharmacy if the pharmacists is unfamiliar with the drug, has to have it special ordered, or simply doesn’t have the time to help. Your doctor will give you the option to fill a prescription at your local pharmacy or online pharmacy.
Manufacturer Patient Assistance Programs
These programs are based on income and can help you receive free medication.
Medicare and government insurance patients are often eligible for these programs.
Cash price for drugs (not listed here)
Many manufacturers have a cash price for uninsured patients. Even if you are insured, you can ask your pharmacist to quote the cash price if you elect not to bill your insurance. The cash price may be cheaper than your co-pay.
