    Jeffrey Gilbard MD

    Dear all,

I just now saw the news report about the tragic death of Jeff Gilbard, founder of Advanced Vision Research (the Theratears company). He was 55.

Dr. Gilbard was one of the top pioneers in the world of dry eye treatment and made huge contributions to the field. There is an excellent tribute in this article about his background and achievements.

I would like to invite those of you who have benefited from Dr. Gilbard's products (e.g. Theratears, TheraTears Nutrition, etc) & research or who have been his patients to share how he helped you. His passing is a huge loss to the profession and to all of us patients.

I've been using TheraTears for many years now as an important part of my dry eye treatment regimen. The drops are not available in Norway, so I order them from Denmark and the U.K. Without TheraTears, it would be even harder for me to cope with dry eyes than it is today.

I am a user of theratears. After my faves of Dr. Holly, I usually turn to theratears. The passing of Dr. Gilbard so young is tragic. - lucy

I was surprised last month to walk into my grandmother's nursing home in NJ and see her, at 92, with a bottle of TheraTears on her kitchen table. I asked her about it, and she said she uses one drop a day and it makes her feel great. I told her she should try the vials, and dropped the subject. A big loss. Condolences to his family.

TheraTears is the only brand that has provided me relief of my dry eye pain. His passing is a huge loss to the DES community.
Every day with DES is like a box of chocolates...You never know what you're going to get.

I also keep a bottle of theratears on my nightstand or under my pillow.

    Prayers to the family,
