Dr. Michael Lange on esterfied fish oil versus triglyceride fish oil

I had the pleasure of spending a day with one of the countries leading experts in the field of wellness and prevention Michael Gross MD. He is also recognized as one of the leading aouthorities on omega three essential fatty acids. We hosted a talk showin Florida today on Omega threes. One of the popular questions was regarding prescription fish oil or OTC fish oil. Up until the introduction of super concentrated prescription Iand non prescription fish oils I didnt think the differences between esterfied and triglyceride fish oils were that different. However now I have begun to change my mind. Almost all fish oil is purified using molecular distillation , this process uses alcohol it is called esterfication. We must start to wonder how much of this alcohol in these super concentrated esterfied fish oils can we take? Alcohol is a free radical and can cause oxidative stress on the body! The Fortifeye Vitamin team and myself are looking very carefully now at the triglyceride non esterfied form of fish oil for absorption and safety issues. Triglyceride based fish oil goes thru a few extra steps after the distillation occurs to remove the alcohol.
You will see many Optometrists and Ophthamologists recommending more concentrated forms of the EPA and DHA from fish oil for dry eye and macular degeneration in the near future. Fortifeye Vitamins have been in the process of reformulating their vitamins for higher antioxidant and better absorption rates based on in intracellular and plasma studieswe hae done. Utilization of non esterfied Triglyceride based omega threes very well may be in this new reformulation.

    Thanks!

Thanks for this information, Dr. Lange, and for keeping the DEZ board informed. I'm curious about your reformulation. If Fortifeye reformulates, will a prescription be needed? If not, please let us know when that change happens, because I'd like to try a supplement that does not cause unintended problems.

    Thanks, again.

Dr Michael Lange changes Fortifeye Formulas to Triglyceride based fish oils

I have decided to change all the fish oil from ethly ester to the triglyceride form of fish oil in the Fortifeye Complete, the new soon to be available Fortifeye Complete Plus and the Fortifeye Dry Eye Therapy. I have looked at this change in the formulation very carefully. Finally after meeting with some of the worlds leading authorities on Fish oil in New Jersey a few weeks back and seeing clinically how well it works in the Lange Eye Care centers in Florida i decided to make the change. All of the new Fortifeye products that contain fish oil will now contain the more bioavailable and more natural triglyceride form. This should reduce if not eliminate any of the gastrointestinal probelms patients were having before. No more burpage of fish oil!! This is still a contraversial area, many vitamin companies do not think the potential benefits are worth the costs? However I want the very best in absorption and the least toxic to any of my patients or customers of Fortifeye Vitamins.

Fortifeye Super Omega is now available!!

Finally Fortifeye Super Omega is available. This is one of the highest concentrations of triple mollecular distillation of triglyceride based fish oil available. I dont have to tell this audience of the importance of this type of fish oil. I think that two to three gell caps a day will suffice for most people however many patients may need more based on their own personal health and objectives. Many people have difficulty swallowing large gel caps so this was made as a chewable as well. It has a very good lemon citrus flavor with no after taste or unpleasant odor. This product of Norway is manufactured in the worlds only NSF and GMP approved fish oil facillity . Happy New Year!!!
