eye "filament" or "thread" ??
This is hard to explain, but does anyone experience this? If I go into a central air conditioned building with vents blowing, my eyes will haze over and many times something forms that feels like a thread attached to the center of my cornea that moves with every blink, but does not come off. Drops don't help it, once it happens it takes about a day to go away. There is only irritation associated with it - not the severe pain that accompanies a corneal erosion. Vision is bad though.
Anyone have this or know what on earth this is?

Sounds like a condition called "filamentary keratitis." Your eyes must be really dry.

There is actually a name for this?! Yes, I have extreme dry eyes. Is this filament thing anything to worry about? I have a mixed connective tissue disorder as well.
I have goggles on most of the time and do warm compresses, eye drops, ointments, and all the other usual tricks including cautery. But still once in awhile I get this thing. Always comes following a visit into a dry, central air conditioned building.
