I just got a bunch of Wiley's newest Climate Control frames and I have to tell you I am THRILLED.

I always loved my Wileys because they have a terrific wrap style and a really nice polarized lens but with my old JP3P the foam lining was thin, uncomfortable and made me sweat. I ran out of Wileys and never bothered re-ordering even when they came out with the newer Climate Control ones. I finally got around to checking out their new stuff and I am so pleased I did.

The foam gasket is really very good - better than it looked in photos, I can tell you that much, and a much bigger improvement over the old ones than I expected. It's very similar to the Panoptx in concept (vented foam) and most of the frames I tried fit quite snugly to my face. I tried Blink, Air Rage, Ink, Brick, and Top Jimmie. I liked them all but Brick and Blink were definitely the best for me.

I'm not saying these trump Panoptx by any means... Panoptx' frames have more styling and the foam is superior. But tor those of you who have been hoping for a lower priced alternative to Panoptx (but better than Onion Goggles ) .... Well, this is a GREAT step in the right direction IMHO. Price ranges from $80 to $135 (no prescription). I have them in the Shop but pretty barebones at the moment - no detailed descriptions, and lousy pix that really do not do them justice. I hope to get this all completed especially how the frames compare in the next couple of days. You can get more detail at www.wileyx.com meantime. I'm going to be stocking three styles of most of them - one with a low-priced lens, one with a light-adjusting lens for use at work/home, and one with a polarized lens for outdoors.

Im having a pair of Bricks and a pair of Blinks right now!!! I love those frames! There isnt anywhere locally I could try the various frames on so I got a great sports opthomologist by the name of Chris Vogler out of St Louis to mail me some Wileys to try out. I couldnt decide which of the frames i liked better so Im gonna get both with polarized script lenses. Im only optomistic that theyre going to work though because my script is like -3.5 in both eyes and that seems to be on the verge of being too high for wrap around glasses.

I found this website www.heavyglare.com that specializes in doing high Rx wrap arounds and have actually ordered a pair of Rx panoptx for myself recently. my Rx is -4.25 and -4.75. the wrap around works pretty ok but you will have outer edges of your lenses portruding a bit because it is impossible to make the lens to exactly conform to the frames.

You should look on line as they sell a wide varieties of wrap arounds and they claim that "if they can't do the Rx, nobody could". Good luck,

p.s. you could call toll free to speak to their optometrist to get a better understanding of each frame style and your Rx. He is very knowledgeable and helpful.

I looked there actually but figured that it was just kind of a gimic that they used to get business. Like i've mentioned in a few other posts, I go bass fishing a lot...the opth thats making mine is pretty well known in the fishing world and does a lot of work for professional bass fishermen. I figured I couldn't go wrong with him. So your glasses from heavyglare are working well? I have a lot of money this year in my health savings account thing through work that I was planning on using but ended up not needing it so I may be in the market for enough sunglasses to last my whole life!

I've used Sunray Optical (Heavy Glare.com) several times myself. So far I have been very pleased with their service and craftmanship. I have a prescription of around -3.00 D and they have had no problems putting my Rx into frames. True, the lens does protrude from the out edge of the frame, but that actually helps reduce distortion as the lens sits more perpendicuar to your eye. Mark Bussey, the customer service rep is friendly and always seems to have the answer to my questions. Worth a shot if you are shopping around for opticians.

I would also like to add that today I was able to go out fishing for about three hours and was able to survive without using tears while staying reasonably comfortable. (Of course I didn't really didn't have a choice since dropping would have required staring straight up at the sun...) I credit this fully to my recently purchased Wiley-X JP-2's. With normal sunglasses I would have been toast after 20 minutes, if that. To all those who doubt if specialty eyewear can really help...trust me it does!

Ditto, ditto, ditto!!!!!

I think there is a big hangup about eyewear because people think that it's a sign they are either hopeless (chronic dry eye) or severe (all those OTHER people with dry eye severe enough to need "goggles"). But the fact is, it's extremely practical and reliable at providing lasting relief FAST and I don't know anything else out there that fits that description, well, except my sclerals that is but you can't order those over the internet or pick them up at a Harley dealership.

I just spent a day with extended family at a reunion, wearing my new polarized Wiley-X Blinks for the first time. I was outside most of the day, and we spent a good share of the afternoon down at Dungeness Spit on the Olympic peninsula. Lately I've been wearing some non foam lined wraparound sunglasses but there is just no way I could have managed with those at a windy beach.

You know what absolutely blows my mind? That nobody has come up with a relatively stylish yet functional pair of moisture chamber (non-sun) glasses for indoor use. Sure, certain glasses can be modified with safety sideguards (Which I've tried and didn't like at all) or even lined with plastic sheeting by an optician. Both are pretty crude solutions. Given the scope of DES in the U.S., isn't it astonishing that people still are forced to walk around in swim goggles? I had a daydream yesterday that I started a succesful company to address this need. Perhaps someday I will if the market for effective dry eye wear continues to be so underserved.

YES YES YES!!! This is what I've been shouting from the rooftops to the optical outfits. Come up with hip moisture chambers and you'll have a blockbuster.

'Course, coming up with it is only part of the battle. Then they have to market it. Remember... Panoptx and Wiley have been around for awhile and how many doctors either know about them or realize that they could help their patients? These optical companies simply cannot be persuaded to spend any money marketing to doctors. And if doctors don't see the products at the big medical meetings, they just don't exist for them.
