is Finacea (azelaic acid) for acne safe for dry eyes?

i went to the dermatologist today and of course was given Finacea to try , as well as Ziana (which has clindaymcin and tretinoin in it) and Protopic for my red eyelids!

I told my derm my opthamologist didnt want me using any retinoids... isnt tretinoin a form of retinoid? also is Azelaic acid safe for eyes? i hope someone can help. i dont want to make my dry eye worse...

I have used Finacea but stopped due to other issues not related to my eyes. I was instructed to keep the cream away from my eyes. Can't answer your other questions.
