    Ocular roscea

Has anyone else been dianosed for ocular roscea and have been treated for dry eye? I was just diagnosed today and told to stop wlll drops. Any one else experience something similar?

I have ocular rosacea and your doctor might be right. A lot of times drops do nothing but burn my eyelids when blinking. The best course of action that I have found was to get your rosacea under controll by finding your triggers that start a flare up. Stress seems to be a big culprit with this disease.

Thank you for your response. Did you have LASIK?

Yes I did back in 1999 but I am not sure if ocular rosacea and lasik have much of a connection. I started my eye issues about 2 years ago and rosacea seems to be the culprit. Or atleast thats what they tell me...

I have it; no lasik. I use serum drops, compounded Restasis and Refresh Plus (sometimes other preservative-free drops but mostly Refresh). I also have a mild case of (facial) rosacea but it's my understanding that you don't need one to get the other.

That's interesting. My doctor doesn't want me to use any drops at all. I am a little concerned about stopping cold turkey.

I would recommend a good dermatologist for rosacea related problems. You might need to treat your facial problems to get your ocular rosacea under controll..

    Hi Joseph:

It's interesting as I don't seem to have facial rosacea, but my mom and grandfather both did. I am still perplexed if I have had this, why did Lasik trigger it so much? Are you managing it?

What makes you think LASIK would trigger rosacea.. Every eye problem that you have does not mean that it was LASIK induced. I think that alot of people including my self think that everything that happens to are eyes must be LASIK.. Well maybe it is just eye problems that you would have had LASIK or not...

I think that Lasik caused situational changes for me; getting rid of contacts; getting Lasik on top of very sensititve eyes and then throwing a bunch of drops in my eyes. I didn't have issues before, but probably an underlying condition that was flared up by a change in my situation. Especially all the extra stress - which seems like a trigger.

    Hi Laura,
When my eye problems began the Opthamologists were prescribing every drop and preservative free artificial tear on the market and they were all horrendous for my eyes.
Finally I only take Restasis twice a day and my eyes have improved!Sometimes our eyes can't handle even preservative free tears.
Maybe you could ask for punctal plugs to keep what natural tears you produce?Good Luck and many times things do get better with less.

Hello sos everyone, I'm an Italian patient in venice, here we are not talking about these issues, I would like to know if among you there are people who are positive Schirmer test. I am completely without tears and aqsciutto, I use the drops, and my eyes are fine, I noticed that at intervals of 1 month my Western are full of sand, and I also see how if I had a white veil in front, I do inpacchi of fresh water for relief, sometimes I take off my eyeballs so I ended up suffering, many of you were subjected to the treatment of lipoflow? and if it works in cases like me, I hope to dear friends, thank you all

Lasik definately triggers dry eye if you are suseceptible to it. Later in life people may have got dry eye- but i dont believe it would be as severe as if they didnt have lasik. I think lasik can trigger ocular rosacea because of sensitive blood vessels in people suceptible to rocacea.
    I want a cure
