Best goggles for a student??

Hi guys,
i was just wondering what ye think the best goggles would be for a student who does a hell of a lot of reading/has to attend loads of classes?
Iv decided to take the plunge and plan on wearing goggles during all my classes as there is no way i can fulfill my dream of being a dentist/doctor if i dont.
Anyone know what the best ones woul;d be for some1 in my situation,so that my eyes dont fell painful during class??

Hi Anthony. I pretty much have to wear some type of goggle on my eyes all the time. I bought a pair of Wiley X airrage for when I'm out in public. You can have them put a prescription in there if you wear one. When I'm home and don't care if I look like a freak, I like the Aqua Sphere Kaiman swim goggle (clear) as they have a really soft rim. My husband drilled some holes in the edge so they won't fog up as much. The anti-fog solution doesn't really work for me. The airrage's don't make as good a seal as the goggles but it's better than nothing. Good luck.

thanks for your help.How do the wileyx goggles lokk when ur in public?Like,are they tinted?And more importantly,do they make a big improvement to ur eyes?My eyes are usually fine outside but the air con in lecture theatres is awful for my eyes.id love to have a pair of effective goggles that dont look awful

Finding glasses that conform to the face is the challenge. Lookup retail locatioons near you that sell the wiley X, 7 eyes, rec specs. Then go try them on. If you can't find a vendor near you then lookup places that sell sports glasses for motor cyclists and bikers. Many of the designs are made to cut wind but usually the store will carry something that wraps close to the face. And of course there is always trial and error via mail order.

As a blind college graduate I feel compelled to mention that you can qualify as print disabled with some backing from your eye doctor. This will qualify you for services offered to the blind and print disabled. Listening to books is not as fast as reading but it might be a way to get some studying done while giving your eyes a break. For example you might use software on the computer that not only can enlarge the text if you wish it can read extensive paragraphs of already scanned books while you use your eyes to take notes and look at pictures.
BookShare.org has one of the largest world wide collections of already scanned books. You don't have to be amember to see if any of your books are in the collection. I own something called a BookSense that is the size of a cell phone that takes these scanned books and reads them to me, anywhere, any time.
Best of luck with your studies. Have you considered going for othomology and dry eye care? LOL

There are a lot of possible products, from $10 to $250+. But even the most expensive of these will still look like goggles if you're wearing them indoors, with clear or light-adjusting lenses. Wiley-X, 7Eye, whatever, there's really no avoiding the goggli-ness. But you may find a look that you can live with. I know men who wear things like the dustbusters or onion goggles in the shop even at work. Just depends on your tolerance.

If you want something that doesn't look like goggles it's going to be expensive. Only options I know of are MEGs and custom moisture chamber glasses.

p.s. Congratulations for choosing to go this route. I think you'll find it makes a big difference.

Thanks for your help.Ya,iv recently got in contact about these things with my support services and they will be scanning my books next wednesday so hopefully that helps!
However,im likely going to have to switch careers as the visual focus required in dentistry will be a bit too much for my eyes long term i feel
Iv been to Dr.latkany,so hopefully with his help i can find a treatment that works

Ah well,i wouldnt say i have a budget as such.Anything that makes a difference to my eyes,im willing to try.I dont need a prescription .
I personally hate the "goggle look". How much would custom moisture chamber glasses cost?And,how effective are they?
I guess i will have to suck it up though.There is nothing worse than focus on a big screen in a lecture theatre with air con blowing into your eyes all the time.
