Hi Dr Lange, you mentioned you keep changing the formula of dry eye extreme. Is this based on scientific studies that one thing works and not another? Or was it simply because some things can't be patented. What scientific studies have been done on this new supplement.

Great question! I have a very large practice in Florida , the dry eye capital of the world, so quite a bit of patients to work with. We are involved in on going research using omega three suplements clinically and seeing the positive effects that patients will obtain. We utilize the very latest in blood testing to check for absorption of nutrients but to also analyze the benfits on specific blood chemistries like c-reactive protein, homocystien, triglycerides, different forms of cholesterol etc... We have been using some realtively new blood tests to look at essential fatty acid percents in the blood, huffa score, omega index and see how certain inflammatory markers like arachidonic acid are effected by omega three. We have been using diffferent combinations of omega three from differnt sources and differnt levels of omega 6 like GLA to see what can maximize the anti inflammatory effects and improve patients both objectively and subjectively. We are trying to stimulate series one prostaglandins, supress but not block series 2 prostaglandins and stimulate series 3 prostaglandins. This is a long process however. We see how modifying patients diets and supplements may benefit them from an ocular stand point and total health stand point. We are also involved in testing many differnt forms of anti oxidants to see what combination allows maximum absorption by looking at the lymphocytes and the plasma. This is one of the studies that is ongoing that we are concluding beta carotene has a form of competitive inhibition with lutein, so we took all beta carotene out of our supplements. One day if i get some free time , I will publish this research. I have a team of doctors from many health diciplines that is involved in this process. Sorry for the delay in reply, I have been traveling quite a bit since the summer to conferences and on research. This is one of the reasons it has taken so long with our new Extreme Dry Eye formula, once it think i have the formula where i want it then something changes my mind. Hope this answers your question.
