omega 3 dosis?
Hello Dr. Lange,
1) which daily oral omega 3 dosis do you recommend? Is the frequently recommended dosis of 1 gram or less not insufficient?
2) Should he recommendation not consider a person's body weight? After all, it's a major difference if somebody weighs 90 pounds or 240 pounds.

fish oil dosing
the one gram can be very misleading, since some of the cheaper brands of fish oil may have one gram but very small amounts of EPA and DHA, i have had great results using arond 900 mgs epa and around 600 mg dha with patients, often times i will double the dosage for the first few months if they have marked dry eyes. I have been involved in some blood testing looking at how much it takes to get the omega index above 8 percent and the majority of patients that i have seen under 200 lbs, the omega index goes over 8% with this dosage. 8% or higher has been associated with a 90% risk reduction of a fatal heart attack!!! if you are heavier then i think you would need more omega three than the amount we are using. I do have many study participants that are over 200lbs and we are in the process of determining what ratio would be ideal for them. I will have this data complete in about three months. We are using Fortifeye Super Omega.
