DHEA for MGD?
If i was on topical testosterone for about 7 months and it did not seem to help-would it be possible DHEA could still help my MGD? I had my hormones tested and my OB/GYN wants to put me on progesterone/dhea because all my levels were slightly low and i haven't had a period for 5 years and am only 35. I do not want to take the progesterone as I am scared of the possible side effects and cancer.
In your opinion since topical testosterone didn't seem to help would an oral dose of DHEA possibly help or probably not? Could it also maybe make my eyes worse?
thanks in advance!

Dr Mike lange discusses DHEA and dry eyes
I would be very very careful using DHEA unless under supervision of your physician!! Do not purchase it OTc at the local drug store unless your doc tells u too. I have not seen any great evidence that it applied topically with eye drop or orally helps dry eye or MGD. if you want to increase your bodies natural production of DHEA then engage in regular areboic and anerobic exercise and restrict your calories. So more cardio and weight lifting and eat less. try to bump up omega three form a triglyceride fomr of fish oil and take some black currant seed oil for the GLA at the same time!! you may want to take a good multivitamin like fortifeye complete one-a-day as well to make sure the enzymes ion the omega-3 and omega-6 metabloic pathway are working well. keep me posted.
