My Natural Remedy for Dry Eyes

Rate this Entry
My three top natural remedies for helping dry eyes.

1. Detox.

Eat fresh, whole foods - organic where possible. Do a detox, cutting out wheat, dairy, caffeine and alcohol. Try it for a couple of weeks. You'll be amazed at all the energy you will have!!

2. Exercise.

I'm amazed at the number of people here and even just anecdotally that report exercise a) simply makes them feel better and b) helps quite a bit with the pain and discomfort.

3. Balance out your hormones.

Use products like Maca root and DIM to naturally balance your hormones and reduce estrogen build up in the body. Testosterone and estrogen need to be in the right ratio to each other.

The first two of these tips definitely help with the third as well. Put them all together and you have every chance of feeling a whole lot better. I did !

Do the supplements you suggest (maca and DIM) work if the problem is too much androgen and normal estrogen? Also, how did you evaluate whether the supplements work? Did you actually have your hormones tested?

It would not be typical for chronic dry eye sufferers to have too much androgen hormones. The reverse is more likely. Maca is reported to be an adaptogen, naturally providing a more balanced hormone profile overall. If you are trying to lower a high androgen profile (testosterone\DHT) this is not specifically a treatment related to dry eyes.

DIM is a plant-based extract that lowers bad estrogens in the body and provides are more balanced estrogen metabolism. If you gradually lower estrogen metabolites, this allows androgens to bind more effectively to cell receptors - including cell receptors in eye tissue.

Yes, I did have my hormone profile tested several times.

Any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Hi, what doses did you take these in? and how long did it take to notice improvement? Is this all you took?

I probably have PCOS (but dont have the common symptoms- acne, hair, weight gain etc), but my hormone levels were in normal ranges. I had elevated FSH and LH which happens in PCOS- do you think I have a problem with oestrogen dominance, even though my hormone levels were in normal ranges? I cant see myself having excess testosterone.
