Bad Night Blues

ok - so today i'm going to have a moan.
yesterday evening i set up my new humidifier - which involved moving all the bedroom around to get it in a place where the steam could safely be directed. i was very pleased with the machine - very quiet in operation, put out a gentle zephyr of steam, and is good to look at - with its clear blue container for the water. i might even get some plastic goldfish for it!
so, when i went to bed, i put the humidifier on, and quite soon my eyes were feeling better. (although it was a good eye day anyway yesterday.) so i decided to try going to sleep with the humidifier on, and risk not putting the Celluvisc drops in.
bad mistake. i woke up a couple of hours later, coughing and coughing, and feeling as if my trachea was lined with wet cotton wool. my eyes still felt ok, though, so i turned the humidifier off, went downstairs and got some warm milk (soya) and a biscuit, came back and went to sleep. woke shortly afterwards, pouring with sweat. got dried out, went back to sleep - and woke an hour or so later with a sore eye! you can't bloody win, can you?
sloshed a load of Celluvisc around both eyes, hoping the soreness would ease eventually. went to sleep and dreamed my teeth were falling out - the whole bottom row!
eventually got back to sleep (having got up and brushed teeth, in case it was my subconscious worrying about the milk and biscuit) and was woken what seemed minutes later by the radio going on.
today i feel i've slipped all the way back down the mountainside. don't even know if it was the humidifier which made me cough, or just a bit of congestion which i get sometimes. also - i'm worried about the 'new' plasticky smell of the humidifier - was it that which made me cough?
so i'm running the machine today for as long as possible, to try to get rid of the smell - with the window and door open - and tonight i shall religiously apply my drops, drink lots of water, and hope for the best. but i don't think i'll go to sleep with the humidifier on... maybe just dampen the room a bit before going to bed.
huh!![]()
