Azasite for MGD? work? side effects?

I had a bad flare up with dry eyes the past weekend-just awful out of nowhere. I went to my eye doc yest.. he said my glands were horribly clogged although I do warm compresses and massage daily and am on Doxy and fish oil, restasis, etc..

He prescribed Azasite.. took it yesterday-felt good until this morning -then really dry again-missed work.. He said not to take it anymore but I went ahead and took another dose.. hoping it will unclog the glands.. My doc is 120 miles away and is on vacation the next week.!! I wish he would have manually expressed the glands!!

Has anyone had any luck with Azasite and MGD and what about side effects??

I actually just started Azasite as well. I have taken it once before for about a month. It worked pretty well for me. I have read where it can make some people almost feel normal again, but it didn't work that well for me. However, it did help. I noticed more improvement actually towards the end, like the 3rd and 4th week of taking it. It does burn a little for me when I put in, but the burning usually goes away after a few minutes. I know it has the preservative BAK in it and those side effects are well documented on this site. There actually should be a little piece of folded paper that comes inside the box of Azasite that should list the side effects as well. I hope this helps.
