It may have been a prank and for all I know the caller is reading this post with a smirk on his face, but I still got a giggle out of it, so he's either a truly lousy speller or gets serious points for creativity.

"Yes, Ma'am, I understand y'all sell dry eyes.... I'd like to get some to use for Halloween decorations."

"....?"

"Yes, dry eyes. Y'all sell them don't you?"

"....?"

"Yes, for Halloween. I mean, you know, you add water and it makes smoke."

[Belated clicks and whirrs]

"....!"

"Oh... I see. Okay, thanks anyway."

Since we do sell dry eyeballs, I honestly thought that was what this person was calling about until I figured out he was really saying DRY ICE. Deep south accent and all....

OK, some much more with-it person has just put me wise to the probable real explanation. Neither prank caller nor orthographically challenged individual. It was a local caller who used the automated (voice-activated) directory assistance and asked for the Dry Ice company. :)

Now who said dry eyes couldn't be fun?!

That's a great story, Rebecca. It kinda reminds me of the "hold your tongue and say apple" game we used to play as kids.

Very funny story! Reminds me of the time I was selling shoes and a lady walked up to the shoe display and says " Do you have these in tan?" I say, "No, maam, we just carry them in black and white" She looked at me and then repeated herself. She said, "I said, you got these in tan?" Again I assured her they only came in black and white. We did this about 3 more times and she got so mad, she turned around and walked out, mumbling
" Dammit, all I wanted to do was try on a Size 10!" I tried to get her to come back in the store but she refused. Gotta watch those southern accents!

I thought that this was really funny. Hopefully, all of us southerners aren't that bad!

I'm a Georgia girl and we get our kicks by making fun of northern accents - I guess it goes both ways!

Ya'll take care now!
:p

Ha! Touche' Georgia girl! I love a southern accent and wasn't poking fun...well...maybe a little fun, but glad you had a laugh over it! Robin
