Forum Moderation (your posts will not appear immediately)
This is an actively moderated forum, meaning that member posts are sent to a moderation queue and will not appear until after they are reviewed - typically within 24-48 hours of posting. The Moderator (yes that's me) reserves the right to modify posts for compliance with rules and guidelines. Submitting a question does not guarantee that it will be posted - but we'll do our best. If your post does not appear immediately, please don't take it personally. :)

USER TIP: Keep a copy of your post/question in case for any reason your question is not posted, or is not posted in its entirety (which is likely if you ask many questions in a single post).

Some Important Rules for Participation
Please make sure you also read our Dry Eye Talk guidelines (http://www.dryeyezone.com/talk/showthread.php?t=37). These rules are subject to change over time as this forum evolves so please check back now and then.

1. Be respectful, courteous and brief.

2. If you are a patient of Dr. Latkany's, please communicate with him privately rather than posting in this forum.

3. Do not post here looking for a diagnosis. Nobody can diagnose you over the internet, no matter how much information you give them. No Dry Eye Talk forums - including this one - should ever be used as a shortcut to avoid a visit to the doctor. Instead, post questions to get information that will help equip you for a really effective visit to your doctor.

Guidelines
These are my suggestions for how we can make efficient use of Dr. Latkany's time and show due consideration for all participants (including your Moderator :) ).

One question per post. Please, no laundry lists. There's always tomorrow or next week.
Keep it brief. Questions over 100 words will not be accepted.
Read the archives. If he answered the same question yesterday, don't ask it again today.
Don't monopolize. At last count we had well over 1,700 members, of whom you are one.
Post questions at an appropriate level. Try to stick with questions that will be useful to other members and terminology that is appropriate for a general audience. If you are seized by an irrepressible urge to babble at length about squamous metaplasia, try email.
Follow-up questions are fine... so long as they are in your own thread. This forum is set up in such a way that you cannot respond in another member's thread. You may post follow-ups to your own questions, subject to the above suggestions on brevity and not monopolizing. If you wish to post a follow-up to someone else's question, please do so by starting a new thread and linking to their thread. If you don't know how, click here (http://www.dryeyezone.com/talk/showthread.php?t=1381) and follow the instructions under #1.
Do not post urgent care questions of any kind in these forums. Instead, contact your doctor immediately.
Enjoy.
