Hi all!
I recently met a woman who had lasik surgery several years ago and has been suffering from dry eyes ever since. Her story sounds similar to most that post here. Anyway, she recently went to California and had a procedure done were her flap was re-lifted and the dry cells that were caught under the cornea were removed. Granted it has only been a month but, she say she can already notice the difference. I have never heard of this before but I thought I would pass on the information. Her Dr. told her if you know what to look for the dry cells are visible upon examination. Here is her doctor's name and website: Dr. Kerry Assil http://www.assilvision.com/index.html
I hope this info might help someone. All and all I am dong pretty good, though I still have some moments. However I no longer use drops daily or take flax seed pills. Personally I really think the cranial sacral therapy helped and continue to stick with it once a month.

Sounds like she had epithelial ingrowth and they lifted the flap and scraped the cells?

I asked the woman I met and she said no, that she did not have epithelial ingrowth.

One of the second opinion doctors I saw wanted to do what sounds like that procedure. Her opinion was my corneas have high and low spots that cause the the quick tear break up. She saw the break up happening as my upper eyelid rubbed over the high spots. So her theory was by smoothing the cornea the poor tear break up time should improve. It's not a good analogy but to me it sounded like a windshield wiper swiping uneven glass. Rather than clearing the windshield, it leaves pools of fluid behind the high spots.

She also mentioned that a lot of the prescription has to do with the tear film.
