Along with aqueous deficiency - I also have a rapid tear break up time. My question is - will hot compresses help with this. I ask because apparently my glands in my eyelids look fine - there is no iblepharitis or nflammation there and they are not clogged up. So if the problem is a decrease in production of oil or something, will the hot compresses still be of benefit?

IMO, Susie, they can't hurt. Just don't make the compresses too hot.

Good luck!
My oil glands are not blocked and I still do compresses and truly believe my oil output is either deficient or slight. Hot compresses feel great...and they're relaxing. I recommend the rice bag. Uncooked (not converted) rice in panty hose. Heat in microwave for a minute an a half with a glass of water. The water ensures the rice doesn't burn. Maybe it's just my microwave. Also, the rice absorbes some moisture which makes my eyes feel better. I do this twice a day. If it feels good, do it! Neil is correct, don't use the rice if it's too hot.

Speaking of microwaving rice, I almost had a hamburger microwave fire today. It seems fitting for this thread.
Brought junk food home after a long trip. Well, I stuck my wee burger in the microwave to heat it up a little. I heard spit, sizzle, pop. Well, I turned around and the paper on my wee burger was, yes.......on fire. Fortunately, I was right there and was able to put the fire out. The wrapper had "silver" on it. A little excitement in the lives of the boring.
Hey, nothing like a little laser light show to round out your exciting week. Luc, I don't thing you should bother playing the lottery any time soon...
